Amber House win Marymount sports day

Amber House (yellow) at the Upbeat Centre, Lekki  in Lagos on Friday won the 2018 Sports Day of Marymount School Lagos after garnering 137 points.

Emerald (green) finished second with 119 points while Ruby (red) were third with 116 points and Sapphire (blue) finished fourth with 108 points.

The pupils competed in 50m, 100m, catching the bus, sack race, relay races, bursting the balloon and lime and spoon race.

One of the Amber House’s teachers Sunshine Peculiar said the house won because they prepared well  for the competition.

“Amber House prepared very well for the competition, which was why we won. The children are  happy with the victory and it will impact in their learning,” she said.

“We know it is easier to win than to stay winning. We are going to work harder to make sure that we retain our title in the next inter-house sports competition.”

The school’s games master Victor Okwelogu said sport is important to the pupils’ education.

He said, “The role of sports in education is a major one. The school organised this competition, which holds once in two years, to ensure that the pupils learn from one another through physical activity.”
