The Director-General of Voice of Nigeria, VON, Osita Okechukwu, has stated that Ndigbo would learn from President Muhammadu Buhari’s trip to the United States of America.
Okechukwu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, said this when he spoke with reporters at the weekend.
The politician also called on Igbos not to vote for any other Northerner, since President Buhari, according to him, will hand over to an Igbo man after his tenure.
President Buhari, who left the country at the weekend, is expected to meet with President Donald Trump and other top U.S. officials during the visit.
Speaking at Awgu Enugu State during a reception for an APC chieftain, Emperor Baywood Ibe, Okechukwu said that in the course of the U.S. visit, Buhari would discuss the Eastern Corridor – Lagos-Maidugri rail project.
Okechukwu said the railway would get to Aba, to Umuahia and Enugu, with spur branching to Abakiliki, Awka, Owerri, to Lafia and Maidugri, also Damaturu.
He continued, “Since 1999, the South-West had eight years. The South-South had five years. We are the only region in the Southern geopolitical zone that has not been there since 1999.”
He urged Ndigbo to vote for Buhari, “Because before you pass exam, you must read. Any other person saying we should vote for another Northerner is deceiving you.
Okechukwu recalled that under the immediate past administration of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the South-East had the Secretary to Federal Government (SGF), Deputy Senate President, Ministers of Power and Finance and Chairmen of Senate and House of Representatives Committees on Works and yet, our roads in the South-East collapsed.
