The governor also pledged to ensure his party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), permeates other states to make it a formidable national party.

Expressing appreciation to President Mohammadu Buhari for allowing free, fair and credible election in the state, as well as the INEC and security personnel, Obiano called his fellow contestants to close ranks with him to move the state forward.

"Anambra is bigger than our personal ambition. Now God has given me the mandate, I call on all to join hands with me to make Anambra great again," he said. Earlier, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Nkwachukwu Orji, said the success of every election was a collective one, saying that every segment was on their toes in making sure the exercise was a huge success.

The certificate was handed over to the governor and to his deputy, Dr.  Nkem Okeke by the National Commissioner in charge of INEC's Legal services, Mrs. May Agbamuche, who represented the National chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu. Also handed over certificate of return was Nkoli Mmegbuaneze who won the Idemili North bi-election conducted same day with the governorship election.
