Niger Delta militants attack Jonathan,
Niger Delta militant groups, under the aegis of Reformed Niger Delta Avengers, RNDA, has accused former President Goodluck Jonathan and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party PD of failing the oil rich region.
RNDA alleged that the PDP created poverty in Niger Delta despite being in power for 16 years. In a statement signed by its leader, self-styled General Johnmark Ezonebi, yesterday, the agitators accused Jonathan’s administration of wastage, corruption, looting, favouritism and non-supervision of his appointees.
They lamented that the officials of the past administration were busy looting the nation’s treasury instead of developing the region.
RNDA alleged that no project was completed in Niger Delta during Jonathan’s era, adding that the poor performance of the former president took the region backwards.
The group, however, commended the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress APC for its efforts towards development of the region.
Most worrisome and painful is the fact that Buhari’s predecessor goofed on development of the region as he was unable to complete the road to his Otuoke community in Bayelsa State.
We praise Buhari’s commitment to Niger Delta since 2015 despite the recession as crude output hit as low as 900 barrels daily, with price as low as between $35and $45 per barrel due to agitation in the creek.
