Tension as court reinstates sacked APC chairman ahead of congress

The Yenagoa  High Court ,  Bayelsa State had earlier reinstated the sacked Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC in the state, Chief Tiwei Orunimighe.

This development has generated tensions in the party, with APC’s congress scheduled to begin on Saturday.

Orunmimighe was expelled by the National Working Committee NWC over allegations of anti-party activities and Josef Fafi was appointed the Acting Chairman.

The committee also suspended the Deputy Chairman of the party, Eddy Julius and the state party Secretary, Marlin Daniel.

Orunimighe then dragged the APC, the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to court challenging his removal.

Ruling on the motion exparte, the presiding judge of the High Court, Sagbama Division, Justice E.G. Omukoro, granted all the reliefs sought by Oruminighe.

The court fixed May 10 for hearing of the motion on notice.
