Governor of Osun state Rauf Aregbesola, has revealed that the struggle for the restoration of the June 12 presidential election, which was widely acclaimed to have been won by Chief M. K. O. Abiola boosted his relationship with the APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The governor posited that the conviction shared between him and Tinubu on where sovereignty resides was responsible for their involvement in the June 12 struggle.
Aregbesola made this known on Wednesday while meeting with Social Media handlers at the Government House, Osogbo.
“My relationship with Tinubu was cementized at the point of the struggle for the restoration of June 12, that struggle cementizes our relationship.
Aregbesola asserted that the nation must applaud President Muhammadu Buhari for his consciousness on the significance and recognition of June 12 as Democracy Day and conferment of honours on Chief M. K. O Abiola, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, and Babagana Kingibe.
Arrogance is synonymous with power, which is a perfect reality of leadership; despite that the president did the needful. It is on that note that the nation must applaud President Muhammadu Buhari.
“The president did another extraordinary thing yesterday, the presidential handshake was distinct, this shows that the victory of Abiola has finally come.
“If those who violated our constitution and ruled against our wish could be honoured, how much more someone who won an election but was criminally denied victory,” Aregbesola said.
