Governor Ortom decries incessant massacre in Middle-Belt
The Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, has commiserated with his Plateau State counterpart, Simon Lalong over the killing of about 100 people in the state at the weekend.
Newsmen had reported that armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen invaded some villages in Plateau state, killing scores of innocent Nigerians.
In a statement made available to Journalist on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase, Governor Ortom condoled with Lalong and the entire people of Plateau State over the bloody incident.
The statement quotes Ortom as commiserating with the Governor of Plateau State and the entire people of the state over renewed attacks in the state which have left many innocent people dead and property worth millions of Naira destroyed.
He condemned the attacks and described the “killing of children, women and other vulnerable people in Barkin Ladi as barbaric, inhuman and unfortunate.”
The governor, who is also battling the same situation in Benue state, urged, “security agencies to arrest for prosecution, the leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association who have claimed responsibility over the Plateau killings.”
He, however, assured his counterpart, Governor Lalong that Benue will continue to stand with the people of Plateau in prayers until the orgy of violence over the state and other parts of the Middle-Belt is brought to an end.
