The new Nigerian Ambassador to Mexico, Alhaji Aminu Iyawa, has said that there is no better destination in Africa for foreign investors than Nigeria.
The Ambassador said this while exchanging views with President Enrique Pena Nieto after presenting his Letter of Credence following an elaborate ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Mexico City. Ambassador Iyawa said President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a number of unbeatable incentives to attract foreign investors that include tax holidays and visa on arrival.
He disclosed that Nigeria is Mexico’s second biggest trading partner after South Africa, with an annual trade volume standing at nearly $600m. He invited Mexican businessmen to seize the opportunity of Nigeria’s current investor-friendly posture to especially invest in the agricultural sector. Ambassador Iyawa also expressed delight over the existing warm and cordial relationships that exist between the two countries and pledged to improve upon it. Nigeria mainly exports Hibiscus and Sesame seeds to Mexico, while Nigerian businessmen import building materials and electronics.
