Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State yesterday pleaded with the state’s chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) not to go on strike.
The labour unions had earlier this month on August 4, asked the state government to clear all salaries owed state workers or they would embark on industrial action beginning from September 1.
But, Ortom after a meeting with the labour leaders yesterday in Makurdi, said he had appealed to them for more time. The governor further expressed confidence that the worker’s nightmare would soon be a thing of the past.
