JAMB registrar Ishaq Oloyede reveals only 25% scored above 200



   Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board JAMB, has revealed that just 25% of the students who took the exams in 2018 passed.

Oloyede revealed this at a meeting at the Bola Babalakin Auditorium in Gbongan, Osun State.

Falana reveals what he will do to Nigerian Government against Plateau killings


     Lagos-based lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana SAN, urged the Plateau State governor to order for the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of the murder of over 86 people in Razak, Ruku, Nyarr, Kura and Gana-Ropp villages of Gashi District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Falana in a statement said that should the government fail to take appropriate action to stop the killings in Plateau “we shall not hesitate to report the authorities of the Federal Government and the Plateau State Government to the Special Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court for condoning crimes against humanity and genocide.”

Senator Buhari Stated Nigeria not ready for cyber attacks



   The Chairman, Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber crimes, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, has stated that critical stakeholders in Nigeria’s ICT sector were not ready to proffer solutions to frequent cyber attacks in the country by hackers.

He explained that among the nations of the world that were already recording advances in technology particularly in Cyber crimes, Nigeria has the worst ICT culture that would not made them ready to tackle cyber attacks.

Lagos court re-arraigns Evans, refuses to quash charges against him



   Justice Adedayo Akintoye of an Igbosere High Court in Lagos again discharged the application seeking to quash the charges preferred against the suspected kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike a.k.a Evans, by the Lagos State Government.

Akintoye, while ruling on the application, said the charges filed against Evans did not offend the rule of duplicity as enshrined in the country’s laws and, therefore, lacked merit.

Again, armed bandits attack Birnin-Gwari, kill 5 villagers



  Barely a week after search for arms operation at Kuriga village by security operatives, armed bandits have stormed the village along Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna road and killed five people, while 12 others sustained bullet wound.

A member of Birnin-Gwari Vanguards for Security and Good Governance told PR Nigeria that victims of the attack included women and children.

R.I.P. Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul, died at 54



    Vinnie Paul, founding member and drummer of Pantera, has died at the age of 54. A cause of death is not immediately known.

In 1981, Paul founded Pantera with his brother Dimebag Darrell, vocalist Donnie Hart,  Lead guitarist Terry Glaze, and bass guitarist Tommy D. Bradfort, who was replaced within a year by Rex Brown. Having started as a glam metal band, Pantera eventually sought a darker, heavier style, which led to the addition of vocalist Phil Anselmo in 1986.

Joe Jackson, father of Michael and Janet, hospitalized with terminal cancer


  The patriarch of the Jackson family that includes Michael, Janet, and the members of The Jackson 5, Joe Jackson has been hospitalized. Variety reports that the Jackson is in the final stages of terminal cancer.

Jackson, 89, has been afflicted with a number of health issues in recent years, including suffering a stroke that left him with temporarily blurred vision, multiple heart attacks, and dementia. Last year, he was in a car accident in Las Vegas, where he’s lived for the past several years.

Buhari approves appointment of four non-executive directors for Central Bank Of Nigeria

Obasanjo son’s marriage in crisis

       The son of late MKO Abiola, the acclaimed winner of the June 12 1993 presidential election, Abdulmumin, has joined the race for the ticket of the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress.

National Assembly not worried about Buhari’s budget concerns, says Senate deputy majority leader



    The Deputy Majority Leader in the Senate, Alh. Bala Ibn Na’allah, on Wednesday, said that the National Assembly NASS was unperturbed by President Muhammadu Buhari’s concerns about the adjustments it made in the 2018 Appropriation Bill.

Na’allah was reacting to the Buhari’s criticisms during his budget signing speech on the reduction of ‘N’ from the proposal sent to NASS and increasing it by ‘N’ for some projects which he said might be difficult to execute.

She is one of the most popular and venerated orishas. Oshun is the deity of the river and fresh water, luxury and pleasure, sexuality and fertility, and beauty and love. She is connected to destiny and divination.

During the life of the mortal Oshun, she served as princess consort to King Shango of Oyo.

Party vows to sue INEC over disqualification of its candidate in the Ekiti gubernatoral Election



    One of the political parties jostling for the governorship of Ekiti state in the July 14 election, Providence Peoples Congress, PPC, has threatened a legal action against the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for disqualifying its candidate.

The party handed the threat when it addressed newsmen in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, accusing INEC of disqualifying and expunging the name of its candidate, Pastor Stephen Obasola, from the list of candidates in the election.

Angyan told the court that she got married to Abdullahi 30 years ago, under Islamic Law, the marriage produced six children.

World Bishops write Buhari over five Nigerian Christians sentenced to death



     The Supreme Council of Bishops, otherwise known as World Council of Bishops, has written President Muhammadu Buhari, pleading for pardon for five young men sentenced to death by a court in Adamawa for the killing of a herdsman.

Newsmen reports that a Yola High Court had on June 11, 2018, sentenced the five men from Kodomun in Demsa council area of the state to death by hanging for murdering a herder in retaliation to the several killings in the area.

Oyinlola, Mimiko visit Ladoja over merger



    A former governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and the immediate past governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, on Monday stormed the Ibadan home of the former governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, in an effort to woo him to their different political parties.

Ladoja rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party from the Accord Party last year but there was friction in his relationship with the National Working Committee of the PDP over the formation of the state executive.

Buhari rules out meeting with nPDP members



    President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that he will never sit down for discussion with the aggrieved members of the defunct new Peoples Democratic Party that joined forces to form the ruling All Progressives Congress.

A top government official disclosed this to journalists on the condition of anonymity. The source said Buhari had conveyed his position on the matter to state governors elected on the platform of the APC during a meeting he had with them recently.

Justice Pius Adeyemi is dead



   Retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Pius Olayiwola Aderemi, CON, is dead. He passed away on Monday at a hospital in Ibadan, Oyo State after a brief illness.

A statement issued by his son, Olakunle Aderemi, described the deceased as a devoted Catholic, defender of the law and an exemplary and incorruptible jurist of Nigeria’s apex court.

Court reserves ruling to disqualify self over Money laundering today



   A Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra state is expected to give ruling today, in an application asking the judge   to disqualify himself from further hearing of a money laundering charge brought  by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,  against the  former Managing Director of Orient Petroleum  Resources Limited, Nnaemeka Nwawka and two others, Jude Cyril Anakwe and Agbaim Nwachukwu. 

Adesina tells Nigerian government what to do about Nationwide blackout


  Chairman of the Egbin Power Plc, Kola Adesina, has called on the Federal Government and operators in the power sector to address the challenges currently facing the power sector.

Adesina, who attributed the problems to misalignment of vision, policies as well as non-consultation and inclusion of operators and stakeholders before a policy is implemented,’ added that it was impossible for every Nigerian to be metered.

FAAN reports Abuja airport records 1.02m passengers in Q1



  The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, says that no fewer than 1.02 million passengers travelled through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja during the first quarter of 2018.

FAAN’s First Quarter Report obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria, in Abuja showed a 38.9 per cent growth from 623,727 recorded during the same quarter in 2017.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that the growth recorded could not be unconnected to the closure of the airport between March 8 and April 19, 2017 for the rehabilitation of its runway.
