Senator Orji threatens to sue Alex Otti over allegation
The immediate past governor of Abia State, Senator representing Abia Central district, Theodore Orji threatened to sue the 2015 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Abia state, Alex Otti over allegation that he forced the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC at gunpoint to reverse the result of the 2015 gubernatorial poll in favour of the incumbent governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.
Orji said he never used gun to force the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to manipulate the result of the 2015 governorship election in the state in favour of Governor Ikpeazu.
He spoke in reaction to Otti’s claim that he had stormed the INEC headquarters in Umuahia while the results were being collated and forced the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, to reverse the cancellation of the results from Obingwa and Osisioma councils.
The Senator, who spoke through his Liaison Officer, Ifeanyi Umere, at a press conference held in Umuahia, said the APGA candidate lied and had only resorted to cheap blackmail having lost out at the poll.
He explained that contrary to the allegation, at no time did he storm the INEC office and forced the REC under gun point to declare a false result.
Orji stated that as a former Administrative Secretary of the electoral umpire, he was fully aware that it was only the court and not a Returning Officer that has the powers to nullify an already declared results.
He said he had already directed his legal team to analyze the claims by Otti and take necessary legal actions.
The Senator warned politicians to desist from politics of bitterness and campaign of calumny and focus on issues, instead of running down their opponents through falsehood.
