Plateau United remain top of the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, after the third round of fixtures, after they defeated 10-man Sunshine Stars 3-1 at the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos.
Benjamin Turbe opened scoring for the hosts, before Kabir Umar added a second with 20 minutes left. Emeka Umeh extended their lead, before Alaba Adeniyi grabbed a consolation goal for the Owena Waves.
It is Plateau United’s first win against Sunshine Stars in six meetings and they have now won all their games this season, to top the table with nine points.
Meanwhile, Champions Enugu Rangers recorded their first win, with a 1-0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors.
Enyimba beat Gombe United 2-0 in Calabar, Kano Pillars fought from a goal down to defeat Shooting Stars 2-1 and Niger Tornadoes lost 1-0 to Rivers United at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt.
