Lagos State Chief Judge release another set of underage inmates, numbering 43, from Ikoyi Prison

The Lagos State Chief Judge, Justice Olufunmilayo Atilade, has released another set of underage inmates, numbering 43, from Ikoyi Prison.

According to reports, 12 out of juveniles freed yesterday were sent to Adigbe Foster Home in Ogun State due to the nature of their crimes which border on murder and armed robbery. The remaining five juveniles were sent to rehabilitation homes.
While releasing the underage inmates, the chief judge admonished them to go and sin no more, while also stressing that the Lagos State Government had zero tolerance for the imprisonment of juveniles.
The Head of Prison Decongestion Committee, Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye, while addressing the underage, said the issue of underage in prisons had become a source of concern for the Lagos judiciary.
Ipaye noted that no child would be allowed to remain in the prison again, stressing that the amnesty exercise would be a continuous one.
