British Airways sacks cabin crew over racist comments on Nigerians

The British Airways (BA) has sacked a member of its cabin crew who allegedly made racist comments against Nigerians on board a flight from London Heathrow to Abuja.

British Airways Regional Commercial Manager, West Africa, Kola Olayinka said the female cabin crew was relieved of her job after the airline concluded investigations into the matter. The airline had launched an investigation following the appearance of a video clip of her making uncomplimentary racist remarks about Nigerians.

Olayinka said, "I can confirm that BA has finalised its investigations into the video and I can confirm that the cabin crew in question ‘no longer works for BA effective today! We will not tolerate offensive comments about our customers anywhere in the world, and will always take the appropriate action,” he said.

The woman dressed in a BA uniform, was heard in the 39-second video making demeaning comments targeted at Nigerian passengers as she was about to fly from London Heathrow to Abuja last Friday night.
