The Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dragged two former officials and a civil
servant before a court over alleged stealing of N586 million meant for the
internally displaced persons in Adamawa State.
Former Commissioner of
Finance, Sanda Jonathan Lamurde, the former protocal officer to the
governor, Abdurahman Bobboi and an official of the State Emergency Management
Agency (ADSEMA), Feredan George were arraigned on Wednesday on 26 count
charges..
Lamurde, then Commissioner of Finance served as Chairman, Adamawa State Committee on Internally Displaced Persons' Welfare while Bobboi who later became state PDP chairman was a member of the committee. The EFCC accused the trio of conspiracy to divert the funds released by the Adamawa State Government for the welfare of IDPs.
Justice Bilkisu B. Aliyu of the Federal High Court, Yola Division ordered the remand of the defendants in prison custody pending the determination of their bail application. The case has been adjourned to 6th November.
