Delta nurses call off strike, resume duties



   Medical activities in Delta state government hospitals are due to resume, as Nurses in the State have called off a one-week industrial action despite government’s failure to address its four point demand.

   Delta State Government said the strike which commenced on December23rd2016 after negotiations between National Association of Nurses and Midwives with government broke down and was called off on Friday December 30th.
    The spokesperson of the Delta State Health Ministry, Ojebo Donald in a statement said the permanent secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Minnie Oseji confirmed resumption of work by nurses during her visit to the General Hospital, Okwe, Oshimili South Local Government Area and Central Hospital Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area.
   It added that the industrial action was suspended following the intervention of some prominent Deltans who prevailed on the Association.
  Furthermore, it restatedthe state government’s commitment to ensure peaceful co-existence in the government hospitals and implored them to cooperate with government to achieve effective health care delivery to patients.
