The Commissioner for Lands and
Surveys, Delta State, Hon Chika Ossai said there is no going back on the
demolition of buildings on natural waterways, following the increasing flood,
occasioned by blockage of the water channel.
The commissioner, who stated this while speaking to newsmen, in Asaba, yesterday on the commitment of the ministry towards retaining the original master plan of the Capital Territory, noted that activities of some persons had resulted to flooding in Asaba, which according to him would no longer be tolerated by the state government.
Hon Ossai said that the ministry of
lands, surveys and urban Development will continue to ensure that developers
did not go contrary to the Asaba master plan, saying anyone found to have
contravened the original plan will be sanctioned.
The commissioner further urged
residents of Asaba and other major towns and cities across the state to report
any structures blocking water channels and obstructions on the road.
