A total of 5 persons have been arrested and 264 premises sealed up in Enugu State by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria for various offences.
The premises were sealed up for offences ranging from operating without registration, failure to renew premises license, dispensing ethical products without the supervision of a pharmacist to poor sanitary conditions among others.
These were disclosed by the Director Inspection and Monitoring department of the Pharmacists Council, Anthonia Aruya, who lamented the unhealthy and unprofessional environments where the pharmaceutical products were sold.
The exercise, according to her, had been carried out in include Delta, Oyo, Ekiti, Osun, Abuja, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Ebonyi, Kwara and Benue, amongst others.
