IGP’s panel probes bribe-for-promotion allegations

 

    The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris has set up a special panel to investigate complaints and allegations that police officers paid bribes for special promotion.  Daily Trust had on August 10, 2017 exclusively reported allegations that police officers paid bribes up to N2 million to facilitate their promotion.

    Police spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood, in a statement yesterday said the panel would investigate the allegations credited to the chairman of the Senate Committee on Navy, Senator Isah Hamma Misau, as reported. He said the Special Investigation Panel had consequently upon the directive of the IGP invited Senator Isah Hamma Misau to a meeting to clarify and provide details on the allegation.
  He said his testimony would assist the panel  to conduct a very discreet investigation into his complaints and allegations, and those of other aggrieved police officers.  He added that to ensure success of the investigation, concerned police officers and members of the public are to call the following numbers : 08054904443, 08035896648 08181895582 to submit complaints.
