The
Nigeria Labour Congress says it will bring the issue of the delay in the
constitution of Minimum Wage Committee by the Federal Government to the
attention of workers during the next meeting of its National Executive
Committee.
The
General Secretary of the NLC, Dr Peter Ozo-Eson, who disclosed this in an
interview with newsmen yesterday, did
not give a specific date for the next meeting but said it would hold soon.
Ozo-Eson
said the NLC had complained repeatedly that the constitution of the committee
to commence the process for the negotiation for the new minimum wage for
workers was being delayed without cause.
It
would be recalled that the Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris
Ngige, had said on July 6, 2017 that the Federal Government would constitute
the Minimum Wage Committee before the end of July.
