The Managing Director of the Nigerian Electricity Management
Services Agency (NEMSA), Engr. Peter Ewesor has resumed for another four year
term in office, the Daily Trust reports.
Engr. Ewesor who
is the pioneer Chief Electrical Inspector of the Federation (CEIF) under the
former Electricity Management Services Limited (EMSL) now NEMSA, had his
appointment renewed by President Muhammadu Buhari last week. He told the Daily Trust yesterday that he
resumed official duty since at the NEMSA headquarters in Abuja after
the Head, Technical Standards and Inspectorate Services, Engr. Tukur Aliyu
held brief for about a month after the management tenure expiration.
Meanwhile, the
Nigeria Consumer Protection Network (NCPN) has lauded the federal government’s
reappointment of Ewesor. President of the network, Barrister Kunle Kola Olubiyo
described the reappointment as a compensation for integrity, hard work,
competence, expertise and patriotism. He
said the re-appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari led Government was
strictly based on merits using global benchmark of Key Performance Indicators
(KPIs). It has further demonstrated the proven commitments of the President to
integrity.
Speaking on behalf
of other members of the network, Olubiyo enjoined the government not to relent
in its efforts in closing the huge metering gaps and consolidate on the gains
so far recorded in the power sector especially in reviewing the privatisation. He noted that issues that caused the over
N500 billion liquidity challenge in the electricity market must be addressed at
once. "To make the review work, government should bring the parties to the
table and iron out the issues. Until this is done, the sector may
not see improvement,” he said.
