DELTA - Commissioner of education says government is determined to eradicate illitracy

     The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education,  Chiedu Ebie, says that the Delta state government is determined to eradicate illiteracy through its SMART Agenda.

    Ebie disclosed this while speaking at the graduation ceremony of a three-month Vocational Skills Acquisition Training programme held in Asaba, which was sponsored by United States Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization, UNESCO, in conjunction with the Delta State Agency for Adult and Non-Formal Education for adult learners in four local government areas.

The commissioner, said that government will not relent in repositioning the Agency for Adult and Non-formal education through adequate funding, as well as well ensuring that facilitators are paid their stipends as and when due in order to realize the essence of establishing it.


    Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Delta State Agency for Adult and Non-formal Education, Chief  Caroline Ajuyah, expressed joy that one of the agency’s goals had been achieved and appealed to the state government to replicate the programme in other local government areas of the State.
