Scarlett Johansson is the highest-grossing film star of 2016, with her movies earning £980 million worldwide in the last 12 months.
This year’s Forbes top 10 list is dominated by stars with comic-book characters in their repetoire, including Robert Downey Jr, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill.
The one exception is British newcomer Felicity Jones, who ranked ninth with a gross of US$805 million (£660 million/€774 million), largely thanks to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story .
Following Johansson are Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr, her co-stars in the blockbuster Captain America: Civil War.
Two other women make the list, Margot Robbie in fourth place, and Amy Adams in fifth.
