For the
second year running, education got the highest sectoral allocation in the
Sokoto State 2017 budget, presented to the House of Assembly by Governor
AminuTambuwal presented Sokoto’s 2017.
Laying
the budget before lawmakers, Governor Tambuwal said education was allocated over
N30 billion, representing 27.3 per cent of the budget.
According
to him, the policy of the budget is to ensure sustainable economic development
through substantial investment in critical sectors like education, agriculture,
healthcare delivery, exploration of mineral resources, investment in renewable
energy and infrastructure.
He
added that though the financial situation in the country posed huge challenges,
the state’s 2017 budget would address key policy issues which included
promotion of peaceful coexistence and protection of lives and properties.
