Delta State Government has indicated interest to take-over the abandoned cottage hospital in Okerenkoko, Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area.
Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nicholas Azinge disclosed this during an inspection tour of the hospital with other top officials yesterday.
Speaking with newsmen, Azinge expressed satisfaction with the equipment in the hospital, noting that discussions to take-over the cottage hospital will soon commence.
Chairman House Committee On Health, Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Tonye Timi described Okenrenkoko Community as a peaceful community and agreed that the cottage hospital was well-built.
According to reports, the cottage hospital was initially built by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, in 2008 and was handed over to the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, to manage.
