Stephen Odey scored his 13th league
goal of the season as MFM FC returned to the top of the table after a
hard-fought 2-1 win against Abia Warriors at Agege Stadium in yesterday's matchday
16 Nigeria Professional Football League clash.
Odey opened scoring in the fourth
minute, meeting up Sikiru Olatunbosun's quick free-kick before placing the ball
in the bottom left corner. Olatunbosun doubled MFM's lead on 31
minutes, curling in a brilliant free-kick over Abia Warriors' wall which sailed
into the top right corner.
In the 84th minute, Abia Warriors
made it a nervy finish as Sunday Adetunji scored for Abia. The win takes MFM's point to 30
after 16 games.
In Port Harcourt, Plateau United
dropped to second after holding Rivers United to a 0-0 draw.
The draw was Plateau's third in
their last six league games.
Plateau United are on 29 points, one
point off leaders MFM.
