Niger Delta Development Commission To move from building shore protection to constructing road networks

Executive Director, Project, of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Samuel Adjogbe, is saying that the commission is moving away from the era of failed shore protection projects to constructing motorable roads to link the riverine communities in the region.

He also said that the commission was setting up a body to profile all failed project contractors and recommend measures to recover funds already paid to such contractors.
Adjogbe made this known in an interview with newsmen in Warri during a public lecture organised by the Nigerian  Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Warri chapter.
According to him, when roads are constructed to link the various riverine communities in the region, developers would then take advantage of the access roads to reclaim the land and build estates and business empires to open up the areas, adding that the shore protection is as capital intensive as the road construction.
