Warri South Local Government Area in Delta
State has projected over N875million as its expected Internally Generated
Revenue, IGR, in 2017 with the hope of getting over N1.9billion as statutory federal and state allocations for
the fiscal year.
This was disclosed, when Chairman of
Warri South council, Matthew Edema, presented the council’s 2017 budget estimate
of N3.721 billion to the legislative arm.
Edema, who christened the 2017
appropriation “Budget of complete Restoration and Hope,” explained that the
budget is geared towards restoring and facilitating all-round socio-economic
and infrastructural development of the entire local government area.
Noting that the 2016 budget of his
administration was not fully executed due to the global fall in oil prices and
recession, he said that his administration recorded huge success in the areas
of removal of all illegal payments, illegal allowances, ghost workers and plugging
of all loopholes and leakages.”
The local Government Boss also
disclosed that N105million has been budgeted to develop markets in Warri, even
as N60m will be expended to continue the strides so far recorded in
environmental sanitation in the council.
Leader of the Legislative Arm, Sunday
Aguweye assured of accelerated hearing and passage of the 2017 budget proposal.
