Delta
State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has advocated for the sensitization
and empowerment of women for the development of our society.
The
Governor who stated this yesterday in Asaba when Senator Aisha
Alhassan, Honorable Minister for Women Affairs paid him a courtesy visit said
that when you empower a woman you empower the family.
The
governor informed the Minister that the State Government has done a lot to
domesticate the child right act in the state.
While
commending Senator Alhassan for her commitment to the advocacy and
sensitization of women, Dr. Okowa urged parents to embrace child spacing and
birth control so as to have children they can carter for within the limits of
their resources stressing that as a nation, plans needs to be made within the
indices of the population growth.
Earlier,
Senator Alhassan, said that she was in Delta State in continuation of her
advocacy and enlightenment campaign on the empowerment of Nigerian women
and the challenges they face stating that the Federal Government has a lot of
programmes for women development.
