Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State
has charged workers in the state to ensure probity, integrity, commitment and
discipline while performing their duties.
The governor gave the charge while
swearing in seven members of the state’s House of Assembly Service Commission
in Asaba.
Okowa noted that one of the greatest
challenges in the country’s public service was indiscipline, charging the
commission to ensure discipline among workers.
He, however, told the commission to
be fair to all workers by ensuring that its responsibilities of promoting, training
and disciplines were appropriately applied to ensure workers’ commitment to
work.
The governor also charged workers to
always follow due process in channeling their grievances rather than resorting
to violence.
He commended the state’s chapters of
the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, for their
support and advice that had ensured industrial harmony in the state.
