Pere Kalanama VIII call on the Federal Government to address the anxiety in the Niger Delta region



    The traditional ruler of Akugbene Mein Kingdom, Bomadi Local Government Area, Delta State, Pere S.P Luke Kalanama VIII, has called on the Federal Government to address the anxiety in the Niger Delta region caused by years of neglect with practical development of the area.

   The monarch, who made the call in his palace at Akugbene on the occasion of his 19th coronation anniversary, also advised agitators to give peace a chance to attract development to the region.
   Pere Kalanama VIII, who is the second vice chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, cautioned those plotting to dismember the kingdom to desist from the underhanded act and urged the state governor, Senator IfeanyiOkowa, to look into the development needs of the local government area.
   Highlights of the occasion were the conferment of chieftaincy titles on some sons and daughters of Izon land and award of scholarships to 24 secondary school students, two each from the 12 communities that make up the kingdom.
