The Queen’s Baton Relay for 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia will arrive in Lagos from Cameroon on the April 1st 2017.
The baton which was officially launched yesterday by Her Majetsy, Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace London will be received by President Muhammed Buhari before departing the country for Kenya on April 5th .
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, told newsmen that the arrival of the baton would signify the country’s robust preparation and successful outing at the Games.
On the preparations, he assured that the country’s athletes would go to the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia and better the records recorded in the past Games like Glasgow 2014, Delhi 2010 and Melbourne 2006.
The Minister said the Baton which represents what the Olympic Touch is to the Olympic Games first visited Nigeria in April 2002 ahead of the Manchester Commonwealth Games.
