Sports federations’ election is billed to hold in April 2017. According to a statement signed by Nneka Ikem-Anibeze, Special Media Assistant to the minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung, the ministry has disassociated itself from the electoral guidelines currently in circulation.
However, the ministry is yet to release guidelines for the forthcoming sports federation’s elections.
Director, Federations and Elite Athletes Department, Hauwa Kulu- Akinyemi, says the purported guidelines in circulation should be disregarded and guidelines will be published as soon as the arrangement is concluded.
Kulu- Akinyemi also warned that fake guidelines being circulated indicating that the ministry would begin sale of forms in March and elections would be supervised by the federations was far from the truth.
