Zanaco face Yanga test

Zanaco booked their date with the defending Tanzanian champions, after making it out of the preliminary round, with a 1-0 away win over APR of Rwanda on February 19th, in Kigali to advance by the same aggregate scoreline.

“If we go with same attitude we went with in Rwanda, we should be able to come out with a good result,” Zanaco coach Mumamba Numba said.

There is some good news for Numba, ahead of the game with imports defender Zimiseleni Moyo and forward Reuben Lyanga from Zimbabwe and Tanzania, respectively available for the trip, after missing the preliminary matches due to late registration.

But Numba will be without goalkeeper Mangani Banda and midfielder Boyd Musonda, who will be in action for hosts Zambia Under-20, in the March 12 final of the 2017 Under-20 Afcon Cup in Lusaka.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s meeting against Young Africans, has an extra Zambian angle to it, with the Tanzanians bench led by ex-Zesco coach George Lwandamina, who led Zesco to that continental milestone in 2016.

It will be the first time Lwandamina, will be facing his compatriots since leaving Zesco last November, to take up the job with the Tanzanian champions.
