NARD issue a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to address the issues of the state of health in the country

In their bid to ensure quality health services and better welfare packages for medical doctors in the country, Members of the National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria NARD have issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to address the issues of the state of health in the country, and the welfare of medical doctors or face a total indefinite withdrawal of services.

The National Executives of the Resident Doctors, led by the National President, Dr. Ugochukwu Onyebueze, who issued the ultimatum during a press briefing after their meeting in Enugu, said the health of Nigerians is not being given the needed attention due to worsening health indices and dilapidated infrastructures in the health sector.
Noting that nothing has been done despite promises from the Federal and State Governments, members of the association lamented the alleged undermining of staff welfare in tertiary health institutions, selective and vindictive non-payment of members who agitate for their dues, epileptic pension and remittance deductions and unpaid salaries among other.

While stating that Nigerians deserve access to quality health care they said the planned industrial action will take effect from January 2, 2017 if the issues raised are not looked into.
