Senate to Ensure States Get Paid For Infrastructure Interventions.

Following the assurance of the Senate that the Forty Three Billion Naira spent by Anambra State Government on rehabilitation and reconstruction of federal roads in the state would be refunded, the people of the State may just be on the verge of witnessing some life touching projects even in the face of current economic realities.
The 8-man Senate Committee on Works led by Senator Kabiru Gaya, who gave the assurance during an inspection tour of some Federal Projects in the state also vowed to ensure that other state governors who have done same get their money back, and noted that the funds were captured in the 2016 budget being executed.
While commending the Anambra State Governor for the conditions of roads in the state, the Senator Committee blamed the delay of works on Second Niger Bridge Project on the contractors but was hopeful for the rehabilitation of the Enugu-Onitsha expressway.
On his part, Governor Obiano commended the lawmakers for the visit, especially for raising hopes on the refund of the money owed the state, appealing to the committee and the Federal Government for more federal roads like the Umueze Anam- Kogi road and Nnewi-Okigwe road among others, to boost economic and social development in the state.
