The National
Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, NESREA has
expressed its commitment to promoting effective awareness on environmental laws
and regulations within the legal system in the country.
The
Director-General of the agency, Dr Lawrence Anukam, who made this known in Abuja said the agency
would focus its awareness through strong interactions with judges, prosecutors
and relevant law enforcement agencies.
While noting that
the agency will also concentrate on environmental issues and routine training
that will address environmental crimes, Dr Anukam said they will continue to organize
stakeholders’ forum, workshops, seminars and consultative meetings with
relevant agencies.
The Director
General of NESREA pointed out that the environment is natural a resource adding
that the protection of the environment is essential to national development.
