Nigeria Ports Authority To Write Off One Hundred and Nineteen Billion Bad Debts

  The Managing Director of the Nigeria Ports Authority NPA  Hadiza Usman says as part of measures to block revenue leakages in the agency, management has decided to black list contractors who have failed to live up to their contractual terms.

  Usman noted that the situation where contractors will collect money and not execute the project they have been paid for or would execute it without adhering to the specifications in the contract terms would no longer be tolerated.
  She also revealed that Management of NPA is working out modalities to write off a total of One Hundred and Nineteen Billion Naira bad debts terminal operators and some partners owe the agency in the past ten years.
The Managing Director of the NPA said most of the entries that constitute the bad debts were land leased out by the agency to private companies but could not possess them due some challenges.
