The Managing Director
of the Nigeria Ports Authority NPA
Hadiza Usman says as part of measures to block revenue leakages in the
agency, management has decided to black list contractors who have failed to
live up to their contractual terms.
Usman noted that the
situation where contractors will collect money and not execute the project they
have been paid for or would execute it without adhering to the specifications
in the contract terms would no longer be tolerated.
She also revealed that
Management of NPA is working out modalities to write off a total of One Hundred
and Nineteen Billion Naira bad debts terminal operators and some partners owe
the agency in the past ten years.
The Managing Director
of the NPA said most of the entries that constitute the bad debts were land
leased out by the agency to private companies but could not possess them due
some challenges.
