The Manchester United star's agent flew to Beijing this week to try and engineer a lucrative deal for his client
Roy Keane has hit out at Wayne Rooney after the Manchester United skipper's agent flew to Beijing to try and engineer a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League.
Paul Stretford travelled to the Chinese capital this week, having been given the green light to secure a move for the United stalwart. He is ready to take internal flights to extend talks with interested clubs.
Although no deal has yet been struck, Rooney has been told he can leave United by next Tuesday’s Chinese Super League transfer deadline if Stretford can clinch a deal for his client there.
Rooney missed Wednesday night's Europa League win in St Etienne, but Red Devils legend Keane claims the England ace can still cut it at the top.

"There's no way Wayne Rooney should be going to China," said Keane, speaking on ITV's Champions League highlights show.
"He can still play football and still play at the top level in England, Germany, Spain, Italy. Madness.
"Going to China? Madness. He's 31-years of age. There's plenty left yet for Wayne Rooney to do in Europe. "I don't think he's short of money is he."
Stretford is understood to be talking to a series of clubs but recognises he needs to meet a string of criteria for his client and United to make a deal happen.
Rooney’s camp have not ruled out a move to China before deadline day, which would bring the curtain down on the United skipper’s illustrious 13-year Old Trafford career.
A number of clubs in China are willing to pay Rooney around £600,000-a-week to join them, with the England captain no longer able to command a regular place under Jose Mourinho.
The clock is ticking on Stretford’s negotiations.
If a deal can’t be sealed the 31-year-old striker will stay at United until the end of this season and review his options then.
