ASUP to draw a battle line with the federal government over government failure to implement the terms of agreement

Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, is once again ready to draw a battle line with the federal government over government failure to implement the terms of agreement with the union, and continuous payment of half salaries to the Polytechnic workers.

National President of the union, Comrade Usman Dutse told newsmen in Abuja that the union can no longer guarantee industrial peace in the nation’s Polytechnic sector, saying that the condition of members of the union are worsening as a result of neglect by government.
He also said the union will hold its National Executive Council meeting third week of March 2017 to deliberate on the way forward.
Meanwhile, workers of the Federal Polytechnic Auchi in Edo State have suspended their one month old strike.
In a communiqué jointly signed after a Joint Action Congress meeting by Abdulganiyu Braimah of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic, Omonekhai Shaka of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics and Solomon Aliabakhalumhe of Non-Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, all staff of the institution have been directed to resume their duties.
