Southern Kaduna: Stakeholders agree nine point agenda

  

  Stakeholders from Southern Kaduna and security agencies at the weekend came up with a nine point agenda to serve as a roadmap towards achieving sustainable peace in the area. The area in recent years has suffered civil unrest and communal violence.


  The Kafanchan meeting which was convened by peace activist, Gideon Para-Mallam and the Deputy Imam of Kafanchan, Mammi Kabir Kassim in partnership with Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) called for the initiation of a broad-based agenda. The agenda would specifically target victims of violence especially women and children by providing them with food and shelter, psychological and trauma care as well as empowerment. 

  The nine point agenda which was signed by the conveners and OPSH Commander, Major General Rogers Nicholas called for wider social justice and inclusiveness through equitable access to land for all. It added that inclusion of women and youths in decision making plus the apprehension and incarceration of those responsible for instigating, sponsoring and perpetrating violence.

  It was gathered that the meeting which was attended by over 500 stakeholders including religious, community and local government officials also called for the inclusion of southern Kaduna in all federal government relief efforts. They also called for an effective monitoring and evaluation system that would ensure that security agents provide proper and rapid security to communities.
