Students who do not have interest in farming will henceforth not get admitted into Universities of Agriculture.

The Federal Government announcing this ban through AuduOgbeh, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, at a stakeholders meeting with registrars and pro-Chancellors of the universities in Abuja, said the decision was to reposition the institutions with a view to involving youths in agriculture to proffer solutions to the challenges in the sector.

The minister also directed that only agriculture-related disciplines be thought.
He further assured universities of government’s continued support in terms of provision of funds and grants to assist in research to move the agriculture sector forward.
