Chairman, Ika South Local Government deny reports of his arrested by the police

Chairman, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State,  Fred Ofume, has denied reports of his arrested by the police for allegedly ordering the demolition of a property valued at over N100 million.

Refuting the alleged arrest in an interview with newsmen, Ofume described the accusations as baseless, false and unfounded, adding that he was only invited by the Police at Force Headquarters in Abuja to provide his statement on the disputed land.
According to him, documented evidence available to the council indicates that the disputed piece of land measuring over 7,000 square meters, which currently has the popular Musa Market on it, belongs to the council.
He also explained that the council had recently initiated moves to recover the said piece of land where it plans to build an ultra-modern neighbourhood market.
