Cross River State say civil servant who participate in the ongoing industrial action organised by labour be paid June 2017 salary

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has ordered that no civil servant who participates in the ongoing industrial action organised by labour be paid June 2017 salary.

He has directed the Commissioner for Finance, Head of Service and Accountant General to immediately commence the process of paying only workers that did not participate in the strike, now in its second week.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Christian Ita, said the governor expects the salaries to be paid soon.
However, labour leaders said there was no amount of threat by the governor that can deter  the workers, insisting that they were not calling off the strike until pensions, gratuity arrears, and promotions were implemented at all levels.
