Hope rising for Delta Council workers as Governor Ifeanyi Okowa backs Local Government autonomy

Council workers in Delta State will be breathing a sign of relief as Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has pledged to use all the second tranche of the Paris loan refund to offset part of the 14 months’ salary arrears owed local government workers in the state.

Making the promise during a meeting with the national leadership of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE at the Government House in Asaba, when the union led by its President, Comrade Ibraheem Khaleel, took its local government autonomy sensitisation campaign to Delta State, the Governor also assured the association of his 100 per cent commitment to the attainment of local government autonomy.
Governor Okowa however advised NULGE leadership to put in place a working committee that will go round the country and interact with the governors and speakers of states Assembly.
