Enyimba International Football Club
of Aba defeated Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna 3-0 in a Nigeria Professional
Football League, NPFL, match at the Esuene Stadium in Calabar.
Ikechukw Ibenegbu put the Aba
Elephants ahead just before the teams went for the half-time to end the first
half 1-0 in the Match Day 28 fixture.
The two teams put up more spirited
efforts when second half resumed, but Enyimba were the better side as Chinonso
Okonkwo extended the lead in the 60th minute.
However, Stanley Dimgba put the game
beyond the reach of the visiting team when he made it 3-0 in the 89th minute.
Speaking after the match, coach
Abubakar Bala of Tornadoes described the match as fair and balanced, while Enyimba’s
coach Gbenga Ogunbote said the team was now on course to gain a ticket to play
on the continent next season.
