The Federal Government is to verify a total of 63,532 pensioners in the North Central and South West zones.
The Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Barrister Sharon Ikeazor, told the House of Representatives Committee on Pension, recently in Abuja, that a total of 56,587 pensioners have been verified in the North East, South South, North West and South East zones of the country.
The committee, led by its Chairman, Hon. Adamu Hassan Shekarau, called at PTAD’s headquarters and received briefing on the build up to the upcoming South West and North Central pensioners verification.
Ikeazor further stated that there was need for the legislative members’ unwavering support towards the prompt payment of monthly pensions and the agency’s quest to conclude the verifications. The Chairman of the House Committee on Pension, Honourable Adamu Hassan Shekarau, expressed optimism for the proposed verification exercise in the two remaining zones.
He said the committee would continue to give PTAD the support needed on the onerous task of improving the welfare of pensioners.
