Nigeria To Push For Peace In Africa



   

     Nigeria will push for peace and look at the issue of rapid deployment of Africa Standby Force, ASF,  and robust engagement in the conflict zones in Africa
    The Minister of Foreign Affairs,  Geoffrey Onyeama, outlined the peace initiative in an interview with newsmen on the side-line of the 31st Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the 29th AU Summit in Addis Ababa.

    Speaking on the highlights of the Executive council meeting, he said Nigeria is optimistic of clinching a seat in the UN High Commission for Human Rights and further stated that the AU Committee in ECOWAS on Statutory Positions will today take decisions on allocations to member states.
     He said that the meeting also discussed the reforms of ECOWAS and various options regarding going forward on the reforms.
