Report from Election held in Warri South Constituency1

The voting exercise that played out at Ode-Itsekiri, Ward 2, could be described as generally peaceful and impressive amidst heavy presence of security. Though there was a little delay in some of the polling units owing to challenges with transporting electoral materials from the Registration Area Centre, RAC, at Ode-Itsekiri to other polling units.

Rize FM crew arrived at Ode-Itsekiri, Ward 2, at 9:20 am. The atmosphere was generally peaceful as they caught glimpse of voters calmly casting their votes, though voting commenced over one hour behind schedule in all the polling units except Usele town hall, polling unit 9, where voting commenced as early as 8:15am, according to the INEC officials on-ground.
While speaking with Rize Fm correspondents, Monoyo Edon and Bright Omaghomi, two of the candidates who cast their votes at units 1 and 2, Ode-Itsekiri expressed satisfaction at the conduct of the exercise.
Toju Apoh of the Labour Party cast his vote at 9:01am at unit 1, while Shola Daibo of the Accord Party cast her vote at 10:39am at Unit 2.
Some of the voters who spoke with Rize FM correspondents praised the preparedness of INEC for the by-election. Among those who spoke with our correspondents were the Secretary of the Warri South Local Government and a chief of the Warri kingdom.
Our correspondents also visited other communities within Ward 2 -Orugbo, Ajigba, Inorin, Gbodede and Usele.
