Abia state government demolish kidnappers’ hideouts in Ugwunagbo council area of the state




    Two days after Gov.Okezie Ikpeazu announced a million Naira gift for anybody who offers information on kidnapping, the Abia state government has demolished kidnappers’ hideouts in Ugwunagbo council area of the state.

   The five demolished buildings, located in Asa Umunka and Mkpukpuevula communities, were being used to keep kidnap victims until ransom is paid.
    Speaking at the occasion, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu who was accompanied by the State Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade and the Commanding Officer, 144 Battalion, Asa, Lt. Col. Kassim Umar Sidi, stated that Abia is not safe for kidnappers as his administration will do all within its powers to protect lives and property.
   Ikpeazu who saluted the gallantry of the security agencies in killing and arresting some kidnappers, vowed that the full weight of the law would be visited on anybody involved in kidnapping in the state and warned landlords to ensure that they protect their buildings and premises from being used as hideouts by kidnappers.
